Fiction XXIV

“No, really, seriously, what are you getting me for Christmas?” she asks…

“Rudolph.”

“Very funny. Reindeer won’t survive in Hyderabad. And I’ve never liked red noses anyway.”

“You have a red nose. And cheeks too.”

“Yeah, right. I hate my nose. And am not red. Am wheatish. ”

“Can I give you your Christmas present early?”

Anticipating something right away, she rubs her hands in glee and says “Yes please.”

“Dr. Reddy, near that Crossroads, next to Safina Plaza”

“What?”

“He’s the best eye doctor in town. Get an appointment.”

“For what joy?”

“You need to get your eyes tested. For identifying colours. And depth perception.”

“Sigh…”
